We are deeply committed to education and training, particularly in advanced endoscopic procedures. We offer short-term fellowships ranging from 1 to 4 weeks, providing a unique opportunity to observe and learn from our expert team.
Our focus includes the management of large colorectal polyps requiring advanced removal techniques, as well as polyps located in challenging anatomical positions.
These procedures are performed mainly on an outpatient basis, four days a week, by our specialized team. eFTR and TEM/TEO is performed in general anesthesia as well as selected cases of EMR/ESD.
When you apply for a fellowship, we will create a personalized program tailored to your interests or those of your group. While we strive to accommodate specific learning requests, availability may be subject to capacity and the presence of relevant specialists. For example, some recent fellows have expressed a particular interest in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD).
Applicants should be experienced colonoscopists with a strong ambition to advance their skills in complex polyp management and procedural decision-making. Due to the short duration of the fellowship, we are unable to offer research opportunities. However, if you are engaged in an ongoing study or have research ideas, we would be happy to provide guidance and inspiration.
Our hospital performs approximately 12,000 colonoscopies annually, with around 500 cases involving complex polyp referrals for specialist treatment. Our dedicated team consists of four expert colonoscopists supported by highly skilled nursing staff.
Key procedures and techniques you may observe include:
Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) for large or complex colorectal polyps, as well as Endoscopic intermuscular dissection (EID) for rectal leasions. Transrectal Ultrasound (TRUS) for assessing large or suspicious rectal polyps before determining the appropriate removal technique.
Advanced surgical endoscopy requiring deeper sedation, including:
o Endoscopic Full-Thickness Resection (EFTR)
o Transanal Endoscopic Operations (TEO)
o Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMS)
o TEM-assisted ESD (TEM-ESD)
Additionally, fellows have the opportunity to observe Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures performed by our Upper GI specialized team. This includes both outpatient and inpatient cases, some requiring anesthesia. Novel procedures such as rendezvous techniques, transgastric interventions, and transcystic stone extraction are also among procedures to observe.
We take great pride in delivering high-quality, advanced endoscopic treatment while prioritizing education. We are confident that your fellowship experience at our center will be both enriching and inspiring.
